I was born in Grenoble, a medium sized city located in the French Alps, with the mountains just next door. Outdoors activities such as climbing, mountaineering or skiing made me a very adventurous person, that is very suitable for doing research. In fact when you think about it, activities such as rock climbing or caving are surprisingly similar to research. In both cases, you enter the unknown and constantly try new tracks, that sometimes work, and sometimes doesn’t.

I did my undergrad and graduate studies mainly in Paris and Grenoble, but then moved to Vancouver for a Predoctoral Research Program proposed by my university and also to Sapporo for my Master Thesis.
Spending one full year in both the North American and the Asian continent was definitly a unique and rewarding experience, not only for the amazing research opportunities, but also for the clash of cultures, because it differs in many aspects from Europe. It also gave me the opportunity to interact with a very wide range of peoples from multiple cultures, and learn a lot from them.

Appart from Science and outdoors activities, I have big interest in strategy games such as Chess, Go, Shogi, Xiangqi, Poker, and also brain teaser like the well known Rubik’s cube. I am following with interrest the work of Google DeepMind, that revolutionized the game of Go in 2016, and is currently making remarkable progress in the game of StarCraft II, which might be one of the very last game where Humans can still beat AI in 2020.
